Practical Training / Work Experience at the Aquarium / Careers

In regard to the employment conditions of our Aquarium, we have two requirements; Japanese language ability and Japanese education (at least graduation from high school). Thank you for your understanding.

Practical training at the Aquarium

For students, graduate students, and technical college students, the Aquarium provides practical training in raising animals. Students in second year or above who are enrolled in a natural science course at university or technical college are eligible to take part.
Over a one-week period, students watch and assist aquarium staff conducting their duties of raising and speaking about the Aquarium's creatures. Should you wish to take part, please contact the Aquarium at least two months in advance in order that numbers and schedules can be arranged.

Work Experience Program at the Aquarium

The Work Experience Program is one of the programs offered by the education committee as part of its career guidance efforts, and is conducted in cooperation with various companies. Okinawa Churaumi Aquarium plays its part in this program by providing work experience opportunities to junior high school and high school students in Okinawa Prefecture. At the aquarium, staff guide students as they learn to work with the aquarium's animals. Up to six students accompanied by a teacher (not a guardian) may take part. If you wish to take part in the program, please apply at least one month in advance.

Other Educational Programs at the Aquarium

If you wish to take part in other educational programs, such as the interview practice sessions for high school and university students, please have the teacher concerned contact the Education and Outreach officer at the Aquarium. The officer will arrange a suitable program upon hearing the teacher's request. Please note that we are unable to accept applications from travel agents.

Okinawa Churaumi Aquarium is managed and operated by Ocean Expo Commemorative Park Management Foundation. The foundation does not recruit staff on a regular basis.
