Ocean Expo Park is home to not only Okinawa Churaumi Aquarium but also an array of other attractions. Come and visit manatees, sea turtles and dolphins in the area around the aquarium.
A new show with false killer whales and indo-pacific bottlenose dolphins showcases their phenomenal physical abilities. During the show, you can listen to a commentary on the ecology and abilities of dolphins. We hope you enjoy the dynamic leaping of the dolphins!
During the Dolphin Viewing program at Dolphin Lagoon, you can learn about the physical characteristics of dolphins while observing the animals at close range. You will also hear about how the aquarium staff look after the dolphins' health. At Dolphin Lagoon you can meet "Fuji", our bottlenose dolphin who swims with an artificial tail fin.
Of the eight species of sea turtles that exist worldwide, the Sea Turtle Pool is home to five: hawksbill turtles, loggerhead turtles, green sea turtles as well as Kemp's Ridley turtles and black turtles. From above the turtle pool, you can see a sand area for the turtles to lay their eggs. You can also view the turtles swimming on the water surface, or watch them swimming underwater from the underground observation room.
Here the manatees, the origin of many mermaid legends, are housed and kept on exhibit. The manatee is a mammalian herbivore which is currently in danger of extinction, and has thus been designated as an internationally protected species. The first floor affords a view of the manatees from above, while the underground observation room allows you to observe their behavior in the water.
