The Statue awaits you at the entrance of Okinawa Churaumi Aquarium. Please feel free to take pictures in front of the sign that says “Okinawa Churaumi Aquarium” located in front and behind the statue itself.

Uminchu Gate inviting you to the Okinawan sea

Once you pass the statue, you will see Uminchu Gate awaiting you. In the Okinawan language, Uminchu means “fisherman”. We hope you enjoy the bright and spacious vistas surrounding Okinawa's Emerald Bay and Ie Island. The entrance to the Aquarium is on the right hand side on the 3F after you exit the elevator from Uminchu Gate.

A full-scale model manta ray

Near Uminchu Gate there is a replica of a manta ray. While this model is approximately 2.7 meters long, the biggest manta on record measured a full 5 meters!

You can look right down on the Coral Sea and Sea of Tropical Fish from above the tank. Enjoy the sight of colorful coral and tropical fish glittering in the sunlight.

Let's Stop by the Event Hall
Finprints leading to the entranceThe event hall next to Restaurant Inoh is usually a free resting room, and in the summer holidays and Golden Week it is home to panel exhibitions and other exciting events. From time to time, there are also quizzes with prizes. If you have time, let's stop by and have a look.

On the carpet at the Aquarium entrance, look out for the fin marks suggesting that a shark has swum by. Follow the finprints to the Aquarium entrance. Had you noticed they were here?
