Small Life in the Deep Sea
An abundant variety of small-scale marine life can be found in the deep sea. There are many ways that deep sea creatures have evolved to consume the limited amounts of food at these depths. Some even live on bacteria that thrive on nutrients contained in the chilly waters or hydrothermal currents that erupt from the sea floor.

Name plates of fish in the small tank- The name plates provide an introduction to the fish and other organisms. The text and layout were designed by aquarium staff, who also took the pictures. In the background of the fish name plates next to the small deep sea tanks, you can see pictures of a wide variety of marine life. You might well think that some pictures look kind of out of place! These humorous name plates are the product of many hours of work by the aquarium staff. We hope you like them!
