Exhibition of Dangerous marine life（Apr.28 to May 6)

There are several kinds of dangerous marine life found in the warm tropical seas of Okinawa (for example, Box Jellyfish and Sea Wasp Anemones.)
Just before the beginning of the summer swimming season here, we will introduce these possible dangers at our Exhibition, using panels,models, and other useful information for visitors.
The exhibition also has a puzzle game and quiz which make it fun for children to learn about dangerous marine life. Learning about dangerous marine life can help reduce the risk of injury.
We are looking forward to your visit!

It’s a new born! The first-ever born in Japan!
～Results of breeding technique in Okinawa Churaumi Aquarium～

In 1957, the Japanese Association of zoological Gardens and Aquariums(JAZA) established an Award for Breeding in Captivity,to encourage reproductive researches and conservation of animals breed in captivity.
Marine life for which Okinawa Churaumi Aquarium has won the breeding awards are displayed through pictures, videos and samples.You can also learn about our breeding techniques.

Summer Festival 2011 in Ocean Expo Park

This event has ended.

“Summer Festival 2011″ will be held on July 16 (Sat) at Emerald Beach.
You can enjoy many activities for family, and live performances by Okinawan artists such as Zanpa Ufujishi Daiko, Hirara, Kamiya Chihiro, Johnny Ginowan Band on the stage of “Sunset Concert”. One of the largest fireworks in Okinawa, about 10,000 fireworks will illuminate the night sky as the climax of our festival .

Exhibition of egg-bundles and larvae of coral from June 17 to 26, 2011

　　　　　We exhibit reproduction by the corals in our Coral Reef tank! Every year, during nights in early summer, they spawn eggs and sperms.　We exhibit the bundles and larvae of corals which we can collect from our tank during the priod from June 17 to 26, 2011.　We hope that you will take this opportunity to learn about the ecology of coral.

“Yambaru” Stage Events

Eisa-dances, pops and local folk songs! Here you can enjoy and listen to different genres of music! And also you can watch traditional dance performances from the local “Yambaru” (Northern area of Okinawa Is.) live onstage. (2 or 3 performances / event)
